Building a Stronger Safety Culture at GPM

Munmorah NSW, November 2025

Generator Property Management (GPM) is strengthening its workplace health and safety culture with new initiatives and regular workshops across both sites.

The second WHS workshop for 2025 was held at Munmorah on 19 November, bringing together GPM staff and contractors who regularly work onsite. With snake season underway and recent sightings of red‑bellied black snakes, the session focused on Snake Bite Training. Participants gained practical, potentially life‑saving skills and a stronger understanding of how to respond calmly and effectively in an emergency.

Safety Updates and Plans for 2026

Alongside the workshops, GPM is rolling out a series of improvements to keep people safe as work increases next year:

  • Communication: All contractors must carry radios for positive communication. Portable units are available from the GPM office.
  • Vehicles: All plant and vehicles must display flashing lights. For convoys, only the lead vehicle requires one.
  • Inductions: Site induction and emergency procedures are being reviewed, with updates to be shared once finalised.
  • Upcoming Works: Shed demolition, bridge construction and water treatment plant activities are scheduled.
  • Vehicle Recovery: A new procedure outlines safe recovery methods for vehicles onsite.
  • Monthly Safety Newsletter: Launching in 2026, covering procedure updates, incidents, toolbox topics and actions taken in response to reported hazards.
  • Traffic Management: Measures such as exclusion zones, reduced speeds on unsealed roads, callout areas, positive communication training and a site‑wide traffic map will help reduce unintentional vehicle interactions.
  • Reporting: Everyone is encouraged to continue using SinePro forms, including hazard reports and Take 5s.

Looking Ahead

With workshops scheduled at least twice a year, GPM is committed to building a safer, more informed workplace. These sessions not only support safe work onsite but also provide valuable skills for life outside of work.

As GPM prepares for a significant increase in activity next year, safety remains at the heart of every project – ensuring staff, contractors and the wider community can feel confident in the work being done.
