Generator Property Management (GPM) has commissioned environmental specialists ERM to prepare a Conceptual Site Model (CSM) for the Colongra Creek Ash Dam at the former Munmorah Power Station.
The study was undertaken proactively to better understand site conditions and guide long‑term management and closure. The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has since incorporated this work into GPM’s Environmental Protection Licence, which is available on our website.
The CSM focused on four key objectives:
- Summarising the site’s history and current conditions
- Assessing potential contamination against risk‑based criteria
- Identifying possible environmental or human health linkages
- Highlighting data gaps requiring further investigation
The ultimate goal is clear: to determine the safest and most effective strategy for closing the former ash dam while protecting the surrounding natural environment.
